William "Bill" Black, 88, of Savannah, MO. Passed away at his home Tuesday, May 15, 2017. He was born October 29, 1928 in Liberal, KS to Verlin Orr & Lily Elizabeth (Reynolds) Black. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and dog, Peanie.
He was the owner of Black Construction and built his first house when he was 19. Bill could build anything from the materials he had. He enjoyed raising cattle on his farm in Amazonia. He liked going to auctions with his wife and collection antiques and glassware. He married Audrey Easton in Troy, KS on November 4, 1946 until her death in 2003. He married Juanita Gray in Savannah, MO on March 17, 2004 and she survives of the home.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Victor "Buck" Black of Amazonia, MO; one daughter, Janie & Rich Post of Maysville, MO; six step-sons, Kenny (Debbie) Hill of Rae, Ronnie Hill of Savannah, Gary (Helen) Hill of Savannah, Michael Hill of St. Joseph, Larry (Marcia) Hill of St. Joseph, Billy Hill of St. Joseph, and Tommy Hill of St. Joseph; one step-daughter, Linda Applegarth of Savannah; one sister-in-law, Helen Black of Savannah; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three special grandchildren who lived with him and helped take care of Papa, Shania Christopher, Rhonda Walker, and a grandson, Steven Christopher. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Audrey Black; one son, Daniel Black; three step-children, Wanda Walton, Terry Hill, and Carol Jean Christopher.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00pm, Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah, MO. Public visitation and family receiving hours will be from 1:00-2:00pm Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Joseph, MO.
