Willard N. Gorman, 90, of St. Joseph passed peacefully away on Monday, June 19, 2017 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, MO. He was born in Elwood, KS March 6, 1927 to Robert & Freda (Smith) Gorman. He married Dorothy L. Mays in Elwood, KS in 1952 and she preceded him in death in 1990.
Willard was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He worked at the United States Postal Service, Lehr's Construction Company, Rosecrans Air National Guard Base in the engineer and maintenance department. He was a fair business man helping others whenever he could. He believed in helping people and giving them a break. He was a hard worker and did what he had to do to get things done. He was a man of great integrity and great friend to many. He did his duty in WWII and served in the US Army. He enjoyed traveling when he was not working.
He is survived by one son, Charles (Carrie) Randell of Inglewood, CA; two daughters, Sandra K. Martin of Minneapolis, MN, and Calista (Nolan) Pinkney of St. Joseph; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, Robert & Russell Gorman; six sisters, Hazel (Bennie) Massey, Beatrice (Otis) Hayes, Mary (Robert) Mays, Beulah (Floyd) Wilson, Cecil (Harry) Vaughn, and Maxine Gorman.
A Celebration of Life will be 11:00am Saturday, June 24, 2017 at New Hope Baptist Church in St. Joseph. Family visitation and family receiving hours will be Friday, June 23, 2017 from 5:00-7:00pm at Gladden Stamey Funeral Home in St Joseph.
