Wilbert Lee Hess Sr., 89, St. Joseph, MO, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Diversicare in St. Joseph, MO. He was born December 28, 1926 to Thomas & Mabel (Cremeen) Hess.
He was an ordained Pentecostal preacher. He liked to tinker with cars. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army. Member of the Kinfolk Gospel Tabernacle Church of Amazonia.
Wilbert is survived by one son, Wilbert "Bud" L. (Elaine) Hess Jr. of W. Jordan, UT; two daughters, Pat (John) Grubbs and Kathy (Mike) Aerts both of St. Joseph; two brothers, Franklin Hess of Amazonia and David Hess of King City, MO; two sisters, Virginia Stull and Juanita Simpson both of Elwood, KS; six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Shirley Francis (Jones) Hess, and brother Gerald Hess.
A Celebration of Life will be held 10:00AM Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Gladden-Stamey Funeral Home in St. Joseph, MO. Visitation and family receiving hours will be Monday, July 25, 2016 from 6:00PM - 8:00PM at Gladden-Stamey Funeral Home in St. Joseph, MO. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Three Rivers Hospice 3913 Sherman Ave. St. Joseph, MO 64506.
