Veta May (Timmons) Dean

Veta May (Timmons) Dean, 84, St Joseph passed away February 16, 2015 at her home. She was born May 3, 1930 north of Wheeling, Missouri to Harold Nelson and Norma Lee (Jamison) Timmons. She graduated from Wheeling High School and Missouri Methodist School of Nursing. Veta married Arthur Allen Dean Sr. on July 18, 1952.
Veta worked at Methodist Hospital as a supervisor, she later was a Certified Mental Health and Psychiatric Nurse and worked at the St. Joseph State Mental Hospital for many years. She loved the nursing profession, watching football and baseball, flower gardening as well as hand sewing. She also enjoyed playing bingo with friends. Most of all Veta loved her family, home and many friends. She will be sorely missed by those who had the honor of knowing her.
She is survived by sisters, Julia Arlene Tiemyer (Elmer),Meadville, Missouri, Joan Lola Gray (Donald), Springfield, Nebraska brother Harold Richard Timmons (Shirley), Hale, Missouri. Veta is survived by her three children Rebecca Lynn Ringgold, Arthur Allen Dean Jr. (Tammy) both of St. Joseph, Missouri. Nelson Lee Dean (Tina) of Topeka, KS. Four Grandchildren Elizabeth (Beth) Marie Ringgold, Marvin Curtis (Curt) Ringgold II (Suzie), Dr. Thad James Dean (Sarah) and Jacob Manford Dean (Katie). Four Step Grandchildren, Ashley Nicole and Katherine Lee Kerns and Derek Scott and Miranda Marie Williams. Six and half Great Grandchildren. Veta is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Veta was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Allen Dean Sr. on October 7, 2007 and her parents, Harold and Norma Timmons, brother Melvin Gerald Timmons and son-in-law Marvin Curtis Ringgold Sr.
Celebration of Life will be held at 10 am on Friday, February 20, 2015 at Gladden-Stamey Funeral Home, St. Joseph, MO. Public visitation and family receiving hours will be Thursday February 19 from 6 - 8 pm at Gladden-Stamey Funeral Home.
