Thomas D. Cox 76 passed away February 14, 2015 in Bolckow, MO. He was born in Wray, CO, on November 28, 1938, to Kenneth and Grace (Redden) Cox. He married Frances Cox in Ventura CA. on December 26, 1981 and she survives of the home.
Tom grew up in Lucerne Colorado and attended Buell School and Eaton High School. Tom was a Navy man serving 20 years and retiring as a Chief Petty officer E-7 in 1975. He owned and operated his own sandblasting business for 15 years until he sold the business in 1999. He was Colorado all-state VFW Post Commander three times and district 3 Commander 1999-2000. He was a charter member of VFW Post 12053 in Amazonia MO. He was a very dedicated post member and served as Amazonia VFW Past Quartermaster for two years until his health made him retire the position. He also held positions at the Missouri District level. He was the Mayor of Bolckow MO. from April 6, 2003 until his passing.
Tom is survived by his wife Frances Cox of the home; three sons, Thomas and Sandy Cox Jr. of Huntington Beach CA, Freddy Cox of Detroit MI, and Michael Cox of Long Beach CA.; four brothers, Kenneth & Darleen Cox of Durango CO, Jerry Cox of Dallas TX, Robert and Shirley Cox of Arizona City AZ, and Norman and Marcia Cox of Evans, CO; one sister, Shirley and Jim Huff of Greely, CO; five grandchildren, Nick Olson of Long Beach CA, Christopher Cox of Huntington Beach CA, Crystal and Jason Holloway of Victorville CA, Alexandria Cox of Jefferson City MO, and Megan Cox of San Pedro CA and one great-grandchild, Jett Holloway of Victorville, CA.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at 7 pm on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, MO. Public visitation and family receiving hour will be from 6 - 7 pm preceding the service on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 10253 Amazonia, MO.
