Thelma L. (Huffaker) Hurst, age 84, passed from this life on February 15, 2017 at the LaVerna Village Nursing Home, Savannah, MO. Thelma had previously been a resident of the Corby Place in St. Joseph, MO.
She was born May 26, 1932, in Andrew County, MO to Guy and Carrie (Vaughn) Huffaker.
She was married to Charles W. Hurst, in 1953 in San Diego, CA. They made their home in many places throughout the United States and retired to Savannah, MO in 1982.
Thelma loved her family and friends and enjoyed getting everyone together for meals and celebrations.
Survivors include her son David and Beverly Hurst of Smithville, MO; her daughters Peggy and Jim Avery of Ardmore, OK; Debbie & Roy Brower, of Beaverton, OR; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sister Della Heath; and her brothers J.K. and Duwane Huffaker.
Memorial service will be at 2 pm Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, MO with visitation 1 - 2 pm February 26, 2017. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mosaic Life Care Hospice in St Joseph, MO.
