Stella Alberta Vertin, 90, St. Joseph, Missouri passed from this life on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Abby Woods Living & Rehab in St. Joseph, MO. She was born January 29, 1924 in Wichita, Kansas to the late Robert & Clara (Simeon) Evans. Stella Married Wilbur Vertin on May 27, 1947 in Wathena, Kansas and he preceded her in death on December 11, 2012.
Stella enjoyed cooking, reading, and sewing. She loved her family and the time she spent with them was precious. Survivors include her son, Kenny (Cathy) Vertin, St. Joseph, Missouri; daughter, Judy Johnson, St. Joseph; one grandchild, Kimberly Johnson of St. Joseph; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Justin
Schelert and Spencer Leppard and eight step-great-grandchildren.
Stella was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Robert Martin Vertin, four brothers, and three sisters.
Catholic Mass will be at 10:00 AM December 27, 2014 at St. Mary's
Church. Entombment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, St. Joseph,
Missouri. Public visitation and family receiving hours will be from 6-8 PM Friday December 26 at Gladden-Stamey Funeral Home, St. Joseph.
Memorial donations are suggested to St. Mary's Church.
