Sandra K. Carneal, 74, passed from this life on February 7th, 2018 at home with family by her side. She was born June 3, 1943 in Nebraska City, Nebraska to Ronal and Zelda (Sewell) Martin.
Sandy married her high school sweetheart Samuel E Carneal on May 31, 1964. He survives of the home.
She graduated from Nebraska City High School, Nebraska and Lincoln General School of Nursing. She attended Missouri Western State and Ottawa Universities taking classes in psychology and administration.
She worked at Nebraska City School District as the school nurse; St. Mary's Hospital in Nebraska City and did private duty.
In 1967, the family moved to St. Joseph, Mo. She worked at Methodist Hospital, Family Guidance, and Carriage Square Nursing Home as Dr. Christ's Office nurse. She retired from NMPRC (State Hospital) after 28 years of service, as Assistant Superintendent of Treatment.
They moved to their Amazonia farm, in 1983. Sam and Sandy enjoyed their yearly trips to Montana camping with friends Robert and Cheryl Evans. Sandy enjoyed collecting children's dishes and NAPCO figurines and participating in all types of fiber arts.
She is survived by her son, Martin A . (Leslee) Carneal and daughter Amy Jo(Bub) Keller, Grandchildren Edward Carneal, Justin Nielsen-Reynolds, Tyson Keller and Calli Jo Keller, Brother Ronnie K. Martin (Debbie), special nephew Chris (Stephanie) Martin and many nieces and nephews.
The family will gather with friends at Breit Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah on Friday, February 9th, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 7:00pm. Inurnment will be at Ebenezer Cemetery. Although flowers will be appreciated the family suggests memorials given to Mosaic Cancer Center, Patient Assistance Fund at 902 N Riverside Road Suite 200, St Joseph, MO 64506
