Samuel Richard McConnell Jr., 86 of Paducah, Kentucky, formerly of St. Joseph, Mo., passed away Monday, September 21 at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky.
Sam was born January 5, 1929 in Amazonia, Mo. He was veteran of the U.S. Navy and a retired from the St. Joseph City fire department after 35 years.
He is survived by sons: Richard McConnell and wife Jayne, Carl McConnell and wife Patsy of Paducah, Ky., Tim McConnell and wife Racena of Summerville, SC., Paul McConnell and wife Cathy, Bill McConnell and wife Mona of Parker, CO. Daughters: Mary Elaine Wilson and husband Larry of Paducah, KY. Pat McConnell, Margie Clevenger and husband Todd of Bowling Green, KY. Kathy Simpson and husband Tom of Chicopee, MA; twenty-four grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores, his brothers Cornelius, Harold, and Ervin and sister Marie Fisher. His parents were Samuel Richard, Sr. and Sylvia Sayles McConnell.
A Celebration of Life will be 3 PM Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Gladden-Stamey Funeral Home, 2335 St. Joseph Avenue, St. Joseph, MO. Public visitation will be Thursday, September 24, 2015 from 1 -3 PM at Gladden-Stamey Funeral Home St. Joseph, MO. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Joseph, MO.
