Ruth (Bryant) Lehman Lynch, 86, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed from this life on March, 27, 2015, at her home in St. Joseph . She was born July 29, 1928, to William and Sylvia (Colville) Bolin. Sylvia Bolin later married Fred Bryant and he adopted Ruth. Ruth married William Lynch on January 3, 2004, in St. Joseph, MO. She was a graduate of Jefferson City High School, Jefferson City, MO, and earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Stephens College, Columbia, MO. She was a secretary and later quality control manager at Whitaker Cable Company for 15 years. Ruth later worked for C.D. Smith Drug Company and then Wyeth Company for four years until their closing in January 1990. She was a member of the Alpha Pi Epsilon Sorority at Stephens College, and the National Honor Secretarial Society; a member of the Y Women's Club and was a greeter and assistant clerk at Copeland Baptist Church. Ruth was a former member of Copeland Baptist Church, New Home Baptist Church, and a current member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Fred Knapp on June 4, 2014; a brother, William (Bill) Bolin who died in a Japanese prison camp during WWII; and a grandchild.
Survivors include: her husband, William Lynch, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Zulima Knapp, St. Joseph; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and David Stewart, Leesville, LA; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Temie Lehman, Ottawa, KS; a daughter-in-law, Glenna Knapp, St. Joseph; 3 stepdaughters and their spouses, Carol and Michael Burger, Gardner, KS, Sandy and Ron Duncan, Kansas City, KS, Laurie and Foister Miracle, Lawrence, KS; 8 grandchildren and 4 great granddaughters.
Celebration of Life will be Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at 10:00 AM at Gladden-Stamey Funeral Home. Interment will be in Ashland Cemetery. Public visitation and family receiving hours will be Monday, March 30, 2015, from5 to 7 PM. Memorial donations are suggested to the Wesley United Methodist Church.
