Rufus O. Vessar Jr., 72, of St. Joseph passed away on April 4, 2015 at Mosaic Health Care in St. Joseph, MO. Rufus was born on May 3, 1942 to Rufus O. Sr. & Elsie (Sandusky) Vessar in St. Joseph, MO. He married Bonnie J. Motsinger November 30, 1963 in St. Joseph and she survives of the home.
Rufus loved his family and friends and his special time with the grandkids, woodworking, and gardening. He owned Vessar Window Cleaning and was a very hard worker.
Survivors include his wife, three sons, Leslie Vessar (Tammy), Lonnie Vessar (Jennifer), and Larry Vessar all of St. Joseph; one daughter, Sandra & Charles Simmons of Highland, KS; five sisters, Beverly & Gary Milbourn, Shirley & Lewis Wendt, Barbara Vessar, Sharon & Neil Wickliff, and Pamela & Jay Hoyt; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
His parents and one brother, William Vessar, preceded him in death.
Celebration of Life will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Gladden-Stamey Funeral Home in St. Joseph, Missouri. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Joseph, MO. Public visitation and family receiving hours 6 to 8 PM Monday April 6, 2015 at Gladden-Stamey Funeral Home, St, Joseph, Missouri.
