Roy Dean Ferguson, of Cosby, Missouri, was born on October 6, 1934, in Rosendale, Missouri. His parents were Clarence Ferguson and Beulah (Brewer) Ferguson. He passed away peacefully at home on August 3, 2026.
On January 14, 1954, Dean married the love of his life, Nola Kay Heller. Together they shared 72 years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family and hard work.
In 1958, Dean and Nola made their home in Cosby, Missouri, where they became longtime members of the community. He was a charter member of the Cosby Lions Club and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Dean began his career with Swift & Co in 1952. After Swift closed, he joined F&S Meat Company. He later became the owner & operator of Ferguson Milk Hauling in 1972, operating the business until his retirement in 1998.
Dean had a passion for sports and especially enjoyed coaching his children's softball teams. He loved traveling, playing cards with friends and spending time outdoors working on the farm. Some of his happiest moments were spent with his grandchildren, who treasured riding the ATV with Grandpa (Papa) and making lasting memories by his side.
Dean is survived by his beloved wife, Nola Ferguson; his children, Keith (Malea) Ferguson of Cosby, Missouri, Lisa (Doug) Hodge of Foxfield, Colorado, and Brenda (Bob) Wray of Olathe, Kansas; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Dean's legacy lives on through the family he loved, values he instilled, and the countless memories shared by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his kindness, his unwavering devotion to his family, and the joy he found in life's simple pleasures.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah, Missouri, beginning at 10:00 a.m., with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Joseph, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church, Cosby, MO.
