Obituary

Robert Dean Niebuhr, 87, of Savannah, MO passed from this life to his eternal home on Friday July 12, 2024 surrounded by his family at his home in Savannah.  He was born September 30, 1936  in Burlington, IA to Albert and Martha (Peterman) Niebuhr.  He married Sherry Steeby-Miller in Perry, IA on December 6, 1975 and she survives of the home.

Robert owned and operated Niebuhr Heating and Cooling for 45 years until his retirement in 2015.  He was proud  of his business and being able to work with his boys Tim and Bret for many years.  He attended college at Iowa State. Bob was an avid sports fan, he loved the Kansas City Chiefs, the Royals and was always true to his Iowa State Hawkeyes.

Survivors include his wife; step-sons, Timothy Miller and Bret Miller both of Savannah; step-daughter, Deborah (Robert) Thorburn of Fillmore, MO; grandchildren, Shane (Melissa) Thorburn, Delynn (Tim) Kuykendall, Angel (Chris) Perez, Lacey (Bryan) Grooms, Austin Miller, Derek (Melanie) Miller, Kristin Miller, Thomas Bart Miller, and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Wilbert (Delaine) Niebuhr of Fort Wayne, IN, Donald Niebuhr of Prescott, AZ, and Delbert (Denise) Niebuhr of Perry, IA; sisters, Marilyn Albright and Marlyce Hollis both of Iowa City, IA. with many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, Martha Jean Niebuhr; sister, Marcia Ostlund; brother-in-laws, Darold Albright and Bill Hollis; stepchildren, Whitney Miller and Bart Miller; nephew, Dennis Albright; and niece, Denise Albright.

Memorial services will be 2:00pm on Tuesday July 23, 2024 at Savannah United Methodist Church in Savannah, MO.  Visitation will be 1:00pm - 2:00pm on Tuesday July 23, 2024 at Savannah United Methodist Church. A dinner will be provided at the Methodist Church at 11:30 for friends and family. Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, MO is in charge of local arrangements.
