Robert Willard Groce, 77, of St. Joseph, MO, went to be with his Lord on Monday, February 12, 2018, at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, MO. He was born September 24, 1940, in St. Joseph, MO, to Jesse Willard & Auda Mae (Battreall) Groce. He married Lucille Marie Edwards in St. Joseph, MO, on December 7, 1958, and she preceded him in death on January 22, 2009.
He loved his family and was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed woodworking and tinkering with things. He loved children, animals and making people laugh.
He is survived by two sons, Robert Willard (Kimberley) Groce II of St. Joseph, MO; and John Francis (Darcy) Groce of Platte City, MO; one daughter, Robin Lucille Gentry and fiancé Rodney Conner of Faucett, MO; nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one sister, Jean Beahler.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge, 2004 N. Belt Highway, St. Joseph, MO, on Sunday, February 18, 2018, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.
