Robert Lee Culver, 75, of Savannah, passed away on August 17, 2017 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph. He was born December 5, 1941 to Arthur Culver & Alice (Winchel) Spiegel. He married France Nelly Yvette Pierson in Etain, France on October 14, 1961 and she survives of the home.
Robert loved his family and the time he had with them. He retired after twenty years of service with the Armed Forces with an honorable discharge. He received several Good Conduct Medals, A Bronze Star, An Army Accommodation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, and a National Defense Ribbon. He worked at Laverna Village Nursing Home for many years as their head grounds keeper.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Candy (Mickey) Smith of Nodaway, MO; son, Remy (DeAnna) Culver of Savannah; brother, Dennis Spiegel of Savannah; four grandchildren, Jeremy Smith, Kyle Smith, Lauren Culver, and Brandon Culver. He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Brandy Smith and two sisters, Donna Osborn and Sharon Culver.
A memorial celebration of life will be Wednesday August 23, 2017 at 10:00am at Breit and Hawkins funeral home in Savannah. Visitation and family receiving hours will be Tuesday August 22, 2017 from 5:00-8:00pm at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah. Memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Post 287 Savannah, MO.
