Rita Jo Atkins, 64, of Viburnum Missouri passed away unexpectedly in her home on Thursday, August 1st, 2024.

She was born on February 24th,1960 to the parents of Lloyd Wayne and Mary Elizabeth (Pittman) Atkins of Rosendale Missouri. However, she lived most of her life in St Joseph, Missouri.

Rita graduated from Helen Davis School and participated in Special Olympics. She enjoyed going to church, bowling, dancing and especially eating out. She was always planning the next "day out."

Survivors include brother Dennis Atkins of Viburnum, Mo and sister Gail Atkins of St Joseph, Mo. She had aunts and uncles on the Pittman and Atkins side and several nieces, nephews and many cousins. She was proceeded in death by her grandparents Sherman and Marie Pittman, William and Annie Atkins, along with her parents Lloyd and Mary Atkins.

Public viewing and family receiving hour will be at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah, Missouri from 11:00am - 12:00pm on Thursday August 8th, 2024.  Graveside services will be 12:30pm Thursday August 8th, 2024 at St. Joseph Memorial Park in St. Joseph, Missouri.
