Richard Allen Walker, Helena, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, MO. He was born in Helena, MO on January 20, 1948 to Olen & Lucella (VanMeter) Walker. Richard served in the United States Army in Korea and came home to start his career at Quaker Oats where he retired in 2001. Richard married Mary Lee Gabriel in September of 1970 and together had two children. Mary preceded him in death on Dec. 27, 1994.
Richard loved everything outdoors including hunting and fishing. Richard could always be called on if something needed fixed and was an expert at the practical joke. Richard will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched.
Survivors include son, Richard Olen & Monica Walker of Stewartsville; daughter, Tammy & Steve Bridges of Clarksdale; significant others, Sharon Hoskins and Dylan Oliphant of the home; brother, Ralph Walker of Savannah; sisters, Marilyn McCallon, Donna Maddox, and Linda Pike all of Helena; grandchildren, Chelsea and Sarah Bridges, Austin and Reese Walker and great-granddaughter Saylor.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
Celebration of Life will be 10:00 AM Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah, MO. Visitation and family receiving hours will be 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home.
