April 3, 1931 - December 5, 2018
Olyve Joann Huffman, 87, of Helena went to be with her Savior on Wednesday morning, December 5th at King City Manor in King City, Missouri. Joann was born on April 3, 1931 in St. Joseph Missouri to Nelson C. Zimmerman and Irene Hitzelberger Zimmerman.
Joann graduated from Helena High School in 1949. She attended Gard Business School from 1949 to 1950 and worked at Anchor Serum Company from 1950 to 1962. She volunteered for Andrew County voting polls and Helena Elementary School lunchroom as well as the school library. She also substituted as school secretary on many occasions. Joann worked on the family dairy farm. She made birthday and wedding cakes for many friends and family members, worked as a Med Tech at Green Acres Residential Care Facility and later enjoyed cooking for the children of the Green Valley Baptist Church Daycare. Joann retired from her final occupation in 2004 at 73 years of age.
She spent many years serving at Green Valley Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church of Helena as a pianist, choir member, WMU member, Sunday School Teacher and VBS Teacher. Joann was also an active member of the Helena Helpful Neighbors Club.
On July 29, 1952 she married John David (JD) Huffman, Jr. at the First Baptist Church of Helena. Together they have two children Cort (Laurie) Huffman of Helena, Missouri and Dee Ann (Ben) McIntyre of Peoria, Illinois; five grandchildren; Catrina (Seth) Mason, Emily (Ben) Healey, Samuel McIntyre, Claire Joann McIntyre, and Macy McIntyre; two great grandchildren; Harper Joann Mason and Anabelle Mason.
The family will greet friends from 1:00-2:00 pm on Sunday, December 9th at the First Baptist Church in Helena, Missouri with a Memorial Service immediately following at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, friends and family members are invited to make a memorial contribution to the First Baptist Church of Helena.
