Obituary

Nancy Jean Swafford, age 70, passed away peacefully in her sleep October 9, 2021 at the North Star Rehabilitation and Care Community in Denver, CO.

Nancy was born September 24th 1951 in Braymer, MO the first of three daughters born to Gerald and Wilma Bryant, of Cowgill, MO. She graduated from Polo High School in 1969 and married her high school sweetheart, Dean Swafford in 1972. She began her career as a special education teacher in the St. Joseph, MO School District upon her graduation from Missouri Western State College in 1987. She later moved to the Savannah, MO School District in 1989 and retired from there in 2011.

Nancy truly enjoyed teaching and took great pleasure in working with her students throughout her career. Nancy was a member of the Church of Christ (Temple Lot) and besides teaching, she enjoyed reading, playing the piano, singing with her sisters, and crocheting. Nancy was an active supporter of the Savannah FFA Chapter and its members and was awarded the Honorary State FFA Degree from the Missouri State FFA Association for her support throughout her life.

Nancy was preceded in death by her father Gerald (2004) and mother Wilma (2006). Nancy is survived by her husband Dean of 49 years, 3 sons, Marshall, Russellville, AR; Brandon, Rye Brook, NY; and Austin, Severance, CO; and 8 grandchildren.

Celebration of life memorial services will be 10:00am, Saturday, October 30 th , 2021 at First Baptist Church Savannah, MO following the service there will be a family visitation and lunch at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Nancy's memory to the Savannah MO FFA Chapter:

The family would like to express their gratitude to caregivers and medical professionals who cared for Nancy in her final years. including the staff of Brookdale Assisted Living, Associates in Family Medicine, Poudre Valley Hospital, North Star Rehabilitation and Care Community, Bristol Hospice and New Century Hospice all of Colorado.
