Meryle Dean Hurst 67, of Savannah, MO passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 at his home in Savannah. He was born in St. Joseph, MO, on November 1, 1947, to Fred & Beverly (Warford) Hurst. He married Jeannette Marschel on March 14, 1969 in St. Joseph.
Meryle graduated from Savannah High School in 1965. He was in the lumber business both retail and wholesale for 38 years. He retired from Crane Lumber Company of Savannah in 2003. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and mushroom hunter. He loved training and hunting with his English Pointer bird dogs.
Survivors include his wife Jeannette of the home who was married for 45 years; one sister, Donna Barbosa of St. Joseph; one cousin Marletta (Don) Short of Sanibel Island, FL; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Velma Hurst, and son Jason Dean Hurst
Celebration of Life will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, MO. Public visitation and family receiving hour will be Wednesday February 18 from 5 - 8 pm at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Mosaic Hands of Hope Hospice, or The American Legion Post 287 Savannah, MO.
