Maybelle G. Horn, 93, passed away on March 17, 2015 at a healthcare facility in St. Joseph, Mo. She was born on October 19, 1921 in Lee County, VA.
She owned and operated Maybelle's Beauty Shop in her home until her retirement. For over 60 years, she lived at the corner of Miller and Cook Road and was known throughout the neighborhood as "The Garden Lady". No one who visited her home left without an armload of fresh vegetables or fruit, flowers, or a jar of homemade jelly. She was very active with her gardening, bowling league, and line dancing at the Senior Center until well into her 80's.
She is preceded in death by her two husbands, Charles Lambright and Frank Horn, daughter, Diana Carter, her parents, David and Ida Sybert and siblings, Marion Sybert, Ina Campbell and Claude Sybert.
She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie (Larry) Lambright Clark, a son, Frank "Bill" (Paula) Horn, sister, Ruby Hydar, 4 grandchildren, Steve Campbell, Colby Clark, Jentry Clark Prine, and Heather Horn Thornton, several great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Receiving hours for friends and family will be 6-8 PM, Thursday March 19, 2015 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah. Private family burial will be at a later date.
