M. Maxine Pew 93, St. Joseph, MO passed away, March 31, 2017 at her home in St. Joseph. She was born October 5, 1923 in Mound City, MO to Frank & Minnie (Hitchcock) Messner. She married Herschel Pew in Troy, KS on October 16, 1942 and he preceded her in death in 2006.
Her hobbies include tending her flowers and gardening. Maxine lovingly spent her life raising not only her children, but grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well.
Maxine is survived by Karen (Mike) Erickson, Sharon Ray, Terri (Terry) Heastan, and Frank Pew, all of St. Joseph; four grandchildren, Amy (Tom) Davis, John (Denise) Tiffany, Ryan (Michele) Heastan, and Eric Heastan; 10 great-grandchildren, Brennan Davis, Blair (Brandon) Geiger, Brady (Micaela) Cummings, Kassie (Drew) Thompson, Mackenzie Tiffany, Alex Modlin, Abby Heastan, Aiden Heastan, Atlee Heastan, and Audi Heastan. There are two great-great grandchildren, Bennett Geiger and Piper Thompson; one brother, Paul Roger Messner of Graham, MO; one sister, Tillie Snyder of Barnard, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.
A Celebration of Life will be 10:00am Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, MO. Visitation and family receiving hours will be 6:00-8:00pm Monday, April 3, 2017 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah. Interment will follow in Prairie Home Cemetery in Graham, MO
