Maxine B. Calkins, 95, of Savannah, MO passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Savannah, MO. She was born on August 9, 1921 in Oregon, MO to Alonzo "Lonnie" & Ruth (Messick) Dennison. She married Arthur Dale Calkins on December 25, 1937 and he preceded her in death in 1993.
She was a member of the Savannah Baptist Church. She loved to draw pictures, paint, write poetry, and short stories.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Randy Mathews, Ricky Mathews, Scott Mathews, Kimberly Payne, Keven Payne, Kirk Payne, Leslie Calkins, Stacey Calkins, numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, one son, Michael Calkins; two daughters, Vanda Leonard and Marylin Payne; three grandchildren, Melody Mathews, T.J. Leonard, and Rodney Mathews
Graveside services will be 2:30PM Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Fillmore Cemetery in Fillmore, MO. Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah is in charge of local arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to The American Cancer Society 902 N Riverside Rd, St Joseph, MO 64507.
