Maxine Bomar, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at her home in St. Joseph. She was born September 22, 1931 to James and Nellie (Bricker) Laughlin. She married Gilbert Bomar in St. Joseph, MO. on October 28, 1960 and he survives of the home.
She worked at Nellie Don as a seamstress, then Whitaker Cable, and retired from Westab/Mead Products at age 62.
She was an avid reader, loved working the daily cross-word puzzle in the newspaper. She sewed fancy calendars for the family every year. She also upon retirement started R.O.M.P. Club (Retired Old Mead Pussycats) which still meets monthly at Frederick Inn.
She was as active member of the First Baptist Church Savannah where for many years she was head cook for the Wednesday's dinners.
Survivors include her husband of the home, daughter, Ava Andrews; Step-daughter, Jamie (Elmer Jr.) Bennett; step-son, Michael (Sandra) Bomar; one grandson Aaron (Jill) Snook and two step-grandchildren, Jason Words and Nichole Bennett and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Forrest and Addis Laughlin; grandsons, Bradley Williams and Ryan Bomar.
Memorial visitation will be Thursday, October 4, 2018 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah. Memorial services will follow at 2:00pm at the funeral home. Inurnment will be on Friday, October 5 at 3:00 pm at Fillmore Cemetery, Fillmore, MO. Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, MO is in charge of local arrangements. Memorial contributions can be in care of the family.
