Mary A. Muse, of St. Joseph, passed away at her home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, July 2nd, 2022.

She was born in Shelbina MO. on September 11 ^th , 1941. The third child of Robert and Jesse (Hall) Coates.  She married Thomas Oliver Muse in Mound City MO on May 7, 1961 and he survives of the home.

Mary was a remedial reading teacher. She taught in Hamilton, Oregon, and Amazonia before her retirement.

She is survived by her husband Tom; two sons, Brian Muse of St. Joseph and Douglas (Carrie) Muse of Greenwood, IN; one brother, Thomas Coates; one sister, Shannon Coates. She is survived by four granddaughters Michelle, Danielle, Emily, and Sara; one grandson, Matt; one great-granddaughter, Emma. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Robert Dean, Jerome, and Dennis; one sister, Martha Steeby.

Visitation and family receiving hours will be 6:00pm-8:00pm, Wednesday, July 6th, 2022 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah MO.
