Marceline Simerly passed in her sleep on December 2nd, 2017. She was born March 17, 1923 near Barnard, MO. She graduated high school from Maryville, MO in 1940 and began working in the Nodaway County prosecutor's office. She married Delmar in 1942 in Washington D.C., where he was stationed in the Army and she worked in the legal division of Federal Housing. While Delmar was overseas, she worked for several attorneys in Maryville.
Upon Delmar's return in 1946, they farmed in the Fillmore area for 28 years. Delmar passed in 1974 and Marceline moved into Fillmore where she lived for 20 years. While living in Fillmore she was an active and dedicated member of her community serving on the following: VFW Auxiliary, Water Board, Cemetery Board, MO-KAN Board, Andrew County Senior Center Board, Antioch Christian Church Board, Shady Lawn Nursing Home Board, Fillmore Town Council, and Fillmore Mayor for 5 years. She moved to St. Joseph, MO in 1998. In her spare time she was an avid Royals and Nascar fan, photographer, and traveled to Yuma, AZ for winters.
Preceded in death by: her parents Delbert & Thelma Icke, brother Vancil, husband Delmar, sons Kirby and Reggie. Survived by: daughter Babs (Pat Willoughby), St. Joseph, MO. Grandchildren (7) Regina (Brian) Stevens, Kansas City, MO, Tina (Heath) Bonnett, Hemple, MO, Ladina (Kevin) Lee, LaHarpe, KS, Kalina (Dan) Hoehn, St. Louis, MO, Cassie (Jason) Kruse, San Jose, CA, Caleb (Ginny) Landess, San Ramon, CA, and step grandson Kane Simerly Mueller, Savannah, MO, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She leaves behind many family and friends whom she loved dearly. She was a devoted Christian and trusted God in all facets of life.
Visitation to be held Friday, December 8th, 6 PM to 8 PM at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home (1010 Highway 71 S, Savannah, MO). Funeral Saturday, December 9th at 1 PM at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to Meals on Wheels.
