Malissa Irene Hyder, 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 26, 2016, at Diversicare in St. Joseph, Missouri.
She was born on July 16, 1924 in St. Joseph to Jesse and Eunice (Frazee) Dotson. She attended Lafayette High School, and married Christopher "Joe" Wyatt, and later Glenn E. Hyder, a former assistant fire chief of the St. Joseph Fire Department.
Malissa was a proud seller of Avon products for nearly 40 years, and retired from the Buchanan County Courthouse. In her spare time, Malissa enjoyed writing, decorating cakes, and playing hostess to family gatherings.
Malissa is survived by her children, Gregg Hyder and Regina Ashford; grandchildren, Christopher (Sandra) Smith, Angele (Samuel) Schellhorn, Jennifer (Elliot) Swope; and great-grandchildren, Jessica and Zoe Schellhorn.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Glenn E. Hyder and Christopher "Joe" Wyatt; parents, Jesse and Eunice Dotson; brothers, Delmar, Pete, Jack, Levi, and Paul Dotson; and sisters, Dottie Nina O'Neil and Letha Sherer.
A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00PM Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Gladden-StameyFuneral Homein St. Joseph, MO. Visitation and family receiving hours will be Monday, August 1, 2016 from 6:00PM - 8:00PM at Gladden-StameyFuneral Homein St. Joseph, MO. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Animal Shelter.
