Mabel Marie (Gass) Burns, 90 Savannah, MO passed from this life on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at LaVerna Village, St. Joseph, MO. She was born in Galt, MO on September 30, 1924 to Connon Doyle and Minnie (Brennenstuhl) Gass. Mabel married William A. "Audie" Burns on October 16, 1944 and he preceded her in death on September 5, 1993.
She and her husband co-owned and operated Burns Farm Supply. Mabel belonged to the Gray Ladies, American Legion Auxiliary, the Business and Professional Women's Club and the Semper Fidelis. She enjoyed dancing, family dinners and was always a gracious host. Mabel was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church, Savannah, MO.
Survivors include son William D. "Bill" (Barbara) Burns, St. Joseph, MO; daughter, Donna Jean Dykes, Savannah, MO; five grandchildren: Kristie Arthur, Chad Simpson, Jennifer Jennngs, Scott Dykes, and Billy Burns; ten great-children: Amanda Arthur, Tyler Arthur, Alivia Jennings, Reis Jennings, Katelee Jennings, Will Burns, Brooklyn Burns, Chase Dykes, Ella Dykes, and Maggie Dykes. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Delbert Gass.
Celebration of Life; 10:00 AM Monday, February 23, 2015 at Breit - Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, MO. Public visitation and family receiving hours will be 1:00 - 3:00 PM Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in Fillmore Cemetery, Fillmore, MO.
