M. Lavelle Young
M. Lavelle Young, of Nixa, MO and formally of Fillmore passed from this life on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Saint Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. He was born November 27, 1939 in Maryville, MO. to August and H. Marcella (Hopkins) Young. On November 29, 1959 in Miami, Oklahoma he married Dorothy "Doti" Lou Jordan, they spent 56 wonderful years together and she survives of the home.
Lavelle raised four good children and was very proud of them and his grandchildren. He collected antique car parts and then took them to swap meets where he sold the parts and looked at all the antique cars. He enjoyed whistling while working in his shop and finding better ways of making things work. He was a member of Lincoln Masonic Lodge # 138.
Survivors include his wife, two sons, Brad (Tracy) Young of Savannah, and Brian (Vickie) Young of Springfield, MO; two daughters, Mindi Crawford of Nixa, MO, and Cindy (Kenny) Jackson of Savannah; one sister, Gayneita (Eldon) Shaw of El Paso, TX; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Roscoe Young, and son-in-lae Jeff Crawford.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Breit - Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, MO. Public visitation will be from 10-11 AM Saturday September 5, 2015 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Luke's Hospice House 3516 Summit St. Kansas City, MO 64111.
