November 29, 1941 - April 23, 2016
Lucille Ruth Watson Baker was born November 29, 1941 near Swanton, Ohio to Francis and Helen Grove Watson and passed away shortly after midnight on April 23.
Her family later moved to Moberly, Missouri where Lucille graduated from high school. For several years, she operated the family's Colonial Village Greenhouse and Floral Shop in Warsaw, Illinois. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Stebbings & Sohl Insurance in Keokuk, Iowa until her retirement.
Lucille had a special heart for church missions programs and served as the missionary president when attending church in Keokuk, Iowa and more recently in St. Joseph, MO. She had also served as an international delegate for that church mission ministry program's quadrennial meeting. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in St. Joseph.
Lucille is survived by her husband, Jerry; two sons, Brian Baker, Warsaw, IL, and Bruce (Jamie) Baker, Savannah. She and Jerry also shared life with a niece, Tammy James, Aurora, CO and two nephews, Greg (Pam) James, Tifton, GA and Richard (Karen) James, Clovis, CA. She is also survived by two sisters, Becky (Dwayne) Bond, Excello, MO and Mary Mays, Wheaton, IL; 13 grandchildren- Christopher, Cory, Morgan and Aaron Baker; Brendan, Isabella, Booklyn and Lily Hahl; Lindi and Ken Jones, Elizabeth, Rebecca and Zoe James; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Celebration of Life will be 10 AM Friday, April 29, 2016 at Breit - Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, MO. Public visitation and family receiving hours will be Thursday April 28, 2016 from 6-8 PM at Breit - Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah. Burial will be in the Savannah Cemetery, Savannah, MO. Memorials contributions may be made to Nazarene Missions International.
