It is with great heartbreak the family announce the passing of Lester Lee Manship, 84, of St. Joseph, MO  on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at a local hospital in St. Joseph.  Lester was born on January 9, 1936 in Rea, MO to Earl & Elsie (Brittian) Manship.  Lester married Janice Dunn in Guilford, MO on December 20, 1959.

Lester loved his family. His grandchildren brought him great joy. He loved watching his grandchildren's sports events. He was an avid reader and had a huge passion for gardening, always sharing his hearty bounty with friends and family. Lester and Janice spent much time after retirement camping.  He enjoyed social time at Betty's Cafe and with "The Boys" for coffee at the mall.

His wife Janice of 61 years followed him in death on November 29, 2020, daughter, Lisa (Joe)Webster of St. Joseph; son, Kenneth Manship of Fayetteville, NC;  Seven grandchildren, Tyler (Kimberly) Manship of Cleveland, GA; Madison and Carter Manship of Fayetteville, NC; Reagan, Zoé, Creed and Selah Webster of St. Joseph and one great-granddaughter, Kennedy Manship of Cleveland, GA; brother Dale (Velma)) Manship of Afton, IA; sister, Lorraine Waugh of Tuscon, AZ; Ruth Chambers of Savannah, MO and many nieces and nephews.

Lester served the country he loved, retiring from the US Army following a 20 year carrier.  He worked shortly for the USPS, retiring later from a career at Sears as a appliance repair service tech.

Lester was preceded in death by his brothers Bill, Don, Alva Manship and sisters Martha Miller and Mildred House.

Due to current safety concerns a public Memorial Service will be held at a later date
