John V. McLarney, 80, Savannah, MO passed from this life on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born December 19, 1934 in Easton, MO. to Leonard & Nell (Downey) McLarney. On January 23, 1960 he married Floella Ferguson at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Easton, MO and she survives of the home.

John graduated from Gower High School in 1953 where he played football. He proudly served his country in the Korean conflict. John served as past president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, Savannah Lions Club and Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the Parish Council at St Rose of Lima, Savannah R-III School Board, was a member of the Selective Service Draft Board and past commander of the American Legion Post 287 in Savannah. He retired from St. Joseph Light and Power after 40 years of service. He was also a very proud member of the Savannah Bootstraps for 32 years.

Survivors include his wife Floella McLarney of the home; one son, Tim McLarney of Savannah; one sister, Jane and Bob Everett of Hemple, MO; four grandchildren, Jennifer McLarney, Sarah McLarney, Steven "Bo" McLarney, and Jacob McLarney; Five great-grandchildren, Tessa Gertsch, Jacen Weber, Kailyn Weber, Lilly Davis, and Kennedy Webb. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son Steven McLarney.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 10:00 AM, at St. Rose of Lima Parish in Savannah, MO. Visitation with the family will be Friday, November 20, 2015 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah, MO. A rosary service will be offered at 6:30 PM Friday evening. Burial will follow after the funeral service on Saturday in Savannah Cemetery, Savannah MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Savannah American Legion Post 287, or Savannah Lions Club.
