John H. Ellison, Sr, of St. Joseph, MO passed from this life on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, MO. He was born August 19, 1947 in Amazonia, MO to Carl Harrison & Viola Mae (Sollars) Ellison. On September 8, 2004 he married Karen Dykes and she survives of the home.
John loved his family and friends. He was a proud firefighter for the City of St. Joseph. He loved to cook for the guys at the firehouse, and he enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. John had two special friends "The Fred's". John served his country in the United States Navy
Survivors include his wife Karen; mother, Vi "grandma" Ellison of St. Joseph; son, John H. Ellison Jr (Shelli) Ellison of St. Joseph; daughters, Tessa Williams of St. Joseph, Elise (Evan) Cline of St. Joseph, and Korrie Mathews of California, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Robin (Randy) Rickerson, Lisa Sollars, and Karen Sollars. He was preceded in death by his father Carl, Sister Teresa Ellison, and Brother Carl Raymond Ellison.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be 6:00 PM Friday, September 25, 2015 at Gladden-Stamey Funeral Home in St. Joseph, MO. Memorial contributions may be given to The American Lung Association and/or The American Cancer Society.
