Jessie K. Martinez, of St. Joseph, MO passed from this life on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, MO. She was born January 31, 1928 in Severance, KS to Jesse & Sarah Kathrin (Hard) Sharp. On August 29, 1946 she married Jose S. Martinez Sr. who preceded her in death on May 5, 2001.
Jessie loved her family and the time she shared with them. She enjoyed playing bingo, Chiefs games on Sunday, and traveling all over the US visiting her family. She was a great cook of Mexican food which is not bad for a girl from Kansas.
Survivors include children; Jose S. Martinez Jr. of Riverside, MO, Adelina Thompson of St. Joseph, Bernadine (Kenny) Moss of Gladstone, MO, Ricardo "Rick" (Bettijane) Martinez of Evans Mill, NY, Robert Alan Martinez of St. Joseph, and Juan "Johnny" Rodriguez of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Jose Martinez III, Becci Martinez, Michael Corkins, Kathy Corkins, Dennis Martinez, John VanVolkenburgh, Christopher Martinez, Mary Ellen Johnston, Dan Klawuhn, Heather Martinez, Stephen Martinez, Aaron Martinez, Jerrod Martinez, Season Martinez, Sescha Martinez, Kayla Knoth, Juan Rodriguez Jr., Maria Boyer, Mary Rodriguez, and 26 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and children Merced Martinez, Gregory Thomas Martinez, Maria Elena Martinez, and Manuel Martinez. Daughters-in-law Tammy Rodriguez, Debi Martinez and Son-in-law Richard Thompson.
A Celebration of Life will be 10:00 AM Monday, September 14, 2015 at Horigan Chapel at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation will be Sunday September 13, 2015 from 1-3 PM at Gladden-Stamey Funeral Home St. Joseph, MO. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in St. Joseph, MO.
