Jeanne Marie (Douglas) Hewitt, 80, Marietta, GA, and formerly of Savannah, MO passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018. She was born on October 27, 1938 in Omaha, NE, to Everett Douglas. & Adeline (Gabriel) Douglas. Jeanne graduated Central High School in St. Joseph in 1956 and was a dental assistant before becoming a full-time housewife and mother. She married Ivan Hewitt Jr. in St. Joseph, MO on July 10, 1960.
In 1965 the family moved to Rosendale, where she enjoyed organizing her children's Girl Scout troops, softball teams and occasionally substitute teaching at North Andrew. She was a member of the Rosendale Christian Church. After her husband's death, she moved to Savannah, and then moved to Marietta, GA in September 2017.
Jeanne is survived by her three daughters, Julie (Dave) Beem of Marietta, GA, Jennifer Hewitt of Kansas City, MO, and Jayne (Landon) Hewitt-Hood of Springfield, MO as well as her 14 grandchildren: Dustin Tucker, Forsyth, MO; Anthony and Matthew (Leslie) Tucker of Springfield, MO; Chris Beem, Whitney (Will) Beck and Libby Beem of Georgia; Alex (Cris) Baslee of Florida; Kate (Danny) Pancratz of Chicago, IL; Blake Mackey of Kansas City, MO; Aaron Smith and Ryan Smith of Detroit, MI, Adam Smith of France; and Sierra Hood and Ivan Hewitt of Springfield, MO, and her six great grandchildren: Draya Baslee; Wyatt and Waylon Beck; and Dakota, Maddilynn and Zayne Tucker. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Hewitt of Rosendale, MO and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband of 41 years, Ivan Hewitt, Jr., who passed in 2001.
Visitation and family receiving hours will be Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 1:00pm - 2:00pm at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah. Funeral Services will be 2:00pm, Sunday November 4, 2018 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah. Private family burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO.
