Jane Ann Latham Powell died on Wednesday July 8, 2026 at LaVerna Village in Savannah, MO. She was born February 4, 1929, and was the daughter of J. Harry Latham and Lorraine (Tebbs) Latham, both of whom preceded her in death. She lived in Savannah most of her life and graduated from Savannah High School in 1946. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Central College, now Central Methodist University, Fayette, Mo., in 1950, where she was a member of Delta Pi Omega Sorority. She was appointed Probate and Magistrate Court Clerk of Andrew County and served in that position 18 years. She then owned and operated Latham Abstract and Title Insurance Co. in Savannah until retiring in 1981.
In 1981, she was elected to the Executive Board of Missouri State Chapter, P.E.O. Sisterhood, and served on the board for seven years. In 1987-1988, she served as president of Missouri State Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
On April 27, 1962, she married Everett D. Powell at the Savannah United Methodist Church; Everett passed on January 27, 2019. She was a member of the Savannah United Methodist Church where she was either full time or part time organist for over 60 years. She has been a member of Chapter EJ, P.E.0. for 79 years. She is also a past president of American Legion Auxiliary, a past Worthy Matron of Order of the Eastern Star, Andrew County Museum and Historical Society all in Savannah and The Runcie Club in St. Joseph.
Survivors include Nancy (Bob) Hueser of Savannah, Tana Lance of St. Joseph, Jon (June) Powell of Green Valley, AZ, Julie Powell of Savannah, Bob Latham of St. Joseph, Corky Latham of St. Joseph, Randy Latham of St. Joseph, Judy Latham of St. Joseph, and Jan (Larry) Glenn of Savannah.
Visitation and family receiving hours will be 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, Wednesday July 15, 2026 at Savannah United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday July 15, 2026 at Savannah United Methodist Church. Burial will follow the funeral services in Savannah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorials be given to the Savannah United Methodist Church or Chapter EJ, P.E.O. Sisterhood of Savannah, to be used for the local P.E.0. Scholarship/Projects Fund.
