James Loddy Kempa (Sonny or Jim), Amazonia, MO passed from this world on Friday, January 12, 2018. He was born May 5, 1943 to William and Mildred (Wright) Kempa. He was born in St. Joseph, Missouri and lived around Amazonia, Missouri all his life. He married Mary Evans in Fillmore, MO on August 15, 1970.
He graduated from Savannah High School in 1961. He loved farming starting at a very young age and continued to farm until 2011.He was known as the chainsaw man, repairing and sharpening chainsaws for many years. He loved his family. He loved going to meet his friends every morning at the Diner 71 in Savannah, Missouri for coffee. He will be sorely missed by his family and his many friends.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of the home, three daughters Linda Tiemann, Brenda Kempa (John) of Amazonia, Missouri and Lori (Dwight) Hopkins of Albany, Missouri. Five grandson's Kye Geyer (Trish), Anthony Kempa (Kaitlyn), Dakota Tiemann (Abby), Andrew Tiemann (Katie) and William Delp. One granddaughter, Meggin (Chance) Park. A great grandson, Tyber Geyer and two great granddaughters, Paisley Kempa, and Lazett Christiansen. He has one sister, Joan (Gary) Shaw, one brother Ronnie Kempa (Sherill). He has numerous friends, and numerous nieces and nephews, brother-in-laws , sister-in-laws, and mother-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents two sisters, Mary Etta Weipert, Billie Sue Gertsner and a grandson, Kendell Delp.
Visitation and family receiving hours will be held Tuesday, January 16th, from 5 PM to 8 PM at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home Savannah, MO. Celebration of Life will be Wednesday, January 17th at 10 AM at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home Savannah, MO. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Amazonia, MO.
