James "Jim" Edwards, 84 of Savannah, MO passed away September 23rd, 2022 at Oregon Health Care Center in Oregon, MO. Jim was born May 14th 1938 to Raymond and Margaret (Wyatt) Edwards.  Jim was united in marriage to Norma Lee Howard in Savannah, MO on September 15, 1962 and together they celebrated 60 years of marriage together.

Jim attended school in Craig MO and graduated in 1955.  Jim was employed with Crouch Brother Trucking, The City of Savannah, Missouri Department of Conservation, and owned a backhoe service. Jim's greatest accomplishment was serving as a Fire Chief for the City of Savannah and the Savannah Rural Protection District for over 30 years. He holds the record for the longest-serving chief.

Jim is survived by his wife Norma, two sons Gary Dale (Ann) Edwards of Amazonia, MO and Tim Edwards of Boone IA; two grandchildren Blaine Edwards and Kimberlee Mercer; two great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Alfred and Duane; sisters Juanita, Doris, and Joyce.

Visitation with family receiving hours will be 1:00pm-3:00pm Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Breit- Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, MO.  Funeral Services will be 10:00am Monday, September 26, 2022 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Whitesville Cemetery, Whitesville, MO.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Whitesville Cemetery Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.
