James W. Crawford, 90, of Savannah, passed away on August 14, 2017. He was born January 27, 1927 to Harley & Edna (Adkins) Crawford. He married Helen Swenson in Savannah in 1946 and she preceded him in death on 2016.
He graduated from Savannah High School in 1944 and served in the U.S. Coast Guard. Jim was a 25 year employee of the U.S. Postal Service and served as the postmaster of Savannah. He was active in the American Legion, Moila Ol'Tymers, Savannah Methodist church, and volunteered with Boy Scouts and several other organizations in the Savannah community. He was a devoted and caring husband, father, grandfather, and brother sharing his humor and sparkle in his eye wherever he went.
Jim is survived by his children, son Steve (Judy) Crawford of Olathe, KS, daughter Vicki (Carson) Petty of Denver, CO, 4 grandchildren Bill (Shelly) and Stephanie Crawford and Kevin (Lindsay) and Jeff (Kate) Petty and 6 great-grandchildren. Jim was also preceded in death by his brothers Reed, Rex, Donald, and Robert, and sisters Velma Gibson and Dorothy Strasser.
Jim's life will be celebrated on Friday August 18 at 2:00 pm at Breit and Hawkins funeral home in Savannah with same day family visitation at 1:00. Memorial donations may be made to the Andrew County Senior Center, P.O. Box 283, Savannah, MO or the Savannah United Methodist Church.
