Iva Pearl (Hughes) Meek - Trimmer, 90, Savannah, MO, passed from this life on Thursday, November 13, 2014, at Shepherd House Personal Care, St. Joseph, MO. She was born April 17, 1924 in Oregon, MO to George and Ida (Traub) Hughes. Pearl was a member of Long Branch Christian Church, Savannah, MO. She was Administrator of Shady Lawn Nursing Home from 1964 to 1969, and the Activity Director for Andrew County Senior Center from February 1984 till she retired due to her health in 2011. Survivors include daughter, Reada Lininger, Savannah, MO; son, Terry (Helen) Meek, Burlington, CO; daughter-in-law, Doretta Meek, Rogersville, MO; stepsons, Dean (Sharon) Trimmer, Bob (Pam) Trimmer, and David (Willa) Trimmer all of Savannah area; eight grandchildren, Christina, Kelly, Jodi, Lorrie, Scot, Tully, Sam, Teryl; and numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Samuel Edward Meek; second husband, Dean Trimmer; son, Marvin Edward Meek; one son-in-law, Jerry Lininger; one granddaughter Dana (Meek) Schneider; seven sisters, Gertrude Embrey, Sylvia Hilsenbeck, Inez Reeder, Mina Hughs, Grace Elliott, Valeda Elliott, Georgia Hughes; one brother Dwight Hughes.
Celebration of Life will be 1:00 PM, Monday, November 17, 2014 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, Missouri. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon, MO. Public visitation and family receiving hours will be 2 to 4 PM Sunday at the Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Long Branch Christian Church or the Andrew County Senior Center.
