Helen Jean (Hancock) Nordin, 77, St. Joseph, MO went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Abbey Woods Living and Rehabilitation in St. Joseph, MO. She was born August 13, 1937 to John and Helen Ida (Jessee) Hancock in St. Joseph, MO. Helen married Gunnar (Swede) Nordin on March 15, 1958 in Troy, KS and he preceded her in death on October 26, 1994. Helen was a wonderful mother who loved her children. She lived her life for her family. Survivors include four sons, Rick (Dianna) Nordin, Lake Ozark, MO, Greg Nordin, Gary Nordin, and Rod (Teresa) Nordin all of St. Joseph, MO; fourteen grandchildren and thirty seven great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Russell Nordin; a granddaughter, Autumn Nordin, and a sister, Mary Lou Hancock.
Celebration of Life will be 11:00 AM Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Gladden-Stamey Funeral Home, St. Joseph, Missouri. Interment will be in Ashland Cemetery. Public visitation and family receiving hours 6 to 8 PM Wednesday September 17, 2014 at the Funeral Home. In Lieu of Flowers memorials are suggested to The American Cancer Society.
