Glenn Uminowicz, 65, Savannah, MO passed from this life on Monday December, 14, 2015 at his home. He was born in Jersey City, NJ on July 10, 1950 to Anthony and Adelephine (Makanka) Uminowicz.
Glenn graduated from Monmouth College in New Jersey and received a Master's Degree in American History and Museum Studies from the University of Delaware, where he was awarded a Hagley Fellowship in the History of Technology and Culture. His research focused on the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association in New Jersey and the history of sports in America. He particularly enjoyed the history of baseball and was instrumental in reviving the Talbot County Fair Plays baseball program, a vintage baseball program that started in the 1860s.
Glenn served as Director of a number of museums during his career, including Victoria Mansion in Portland, Maine; Berrien County Historical Association in Berrien Springs, Michigan; Danvers Historical Society in Danvers, Massachusetts, the Talbot County Historical Society in Easton, Maryland. Most recently he served as Director of the Andrew County Museum in Savannah from 2010-2015. He published articles in the Journal of Sports History and was a regular contributor of articles to the Tidewater Times newspaper in Maryland. He was a member of the Andrew County Rotary Club.
He is survived by one son, James Uminowicz; one brother, Chris Uminowicz; two sisters, Renay Anderson and Eileen Rose.
Glenn has been cremated and will be returning home to Texas with his family.
