Glen Lester Hampton, 84 was born January 10, 1932 to Edna (Ochse) and Frank Hampton, on a family farm where the family lived east of Cosby, Missouri. He was the youngest of five children. He passed on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Living Community of St. Joseph.
Glen lived his life in the Helena community and attended the Helena school. On January 22, 1955 he married Bernice Bridgman in Miami, Oklahoma and celebrated 54 years of marriage until her passing on September 23, 2009. He lived in Helena until his mind would no longer allow him to care for himself. At that time, he moved to Living Community of St. Joseph where he was loved like family. Glen never met a stranger.
Glen served in the US Army during the Korean War and spent this time in Korea. He retired from the Quaker Oats Company after 42 years. He was a long time member of the Helena Baptist Church and the Savannah American Legion. Some of Glen's most cherished times were spent traveling with his wife, fishing, hunting, the outdoors, spending time with his grandchildren and being a very humorous man.
Survivors include his son Steven and wife Betty, his daughter Glennice Moore and husband Keith, daughter Becky Hampton, extended family Maree Daise and her family, grandchildren Sondra Todd, Tracy Wiley, Megan Nold, Chandler Nold, Sarah Lea, Seth Moore, Anna Moore, Matthew Salmons, Casey Townsend, great grandchildren Chaley Todd, Hillary Todd, Hannah Todd, Bruce Bickerstaff III, Bryston Salmons, Tieler Salmons, Jacob Holler, Ayden Flannery, Ellie Nold, Cooper Wiley, Evan Wiley, Lane Moore, sister Jean Huffman, brother in law Gene and Charlotte Bridgman, many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bernice, a granddaughter Stephanie Hampton, a grandson Leslie Nold III, his brother Charles (Sonny) Hampton, his sisters Carolyn Catron and Frances Hector.

Celebration of life will be held at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah Missouri Tuesday 10am February 23, 2016. Visitation and family receiving hours will be Monday February 22, 2016 from5-7pm at Breit-Hawking Funeral Home Savannah, Missouri. Burial following at Helena Cemetery.
