Gerald "Jerry" S. Nester, 71, Savannah, MO. passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 in St. Joseph, MO.   He was born February 5, 1948 to Arrah-wanna & Alberta (Coats) Nester.

Jerry loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, John Wayne westerns, and anything outdoors.  He worked for Martin Marietta Rock Quarry for many years.

Survivors include his children; Kelly (Ron) Wood of Savannah, Shelly Smither of St. Joseph, and Shauna Nester of St. Joseph; sisters, Carolyn (Donald) Taylor of Savannah and Marolyn (Tom) Chavez of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Jeramy (Amy) Nester, Dallas (Cara) George, Cameron George, Cecilia (Alex) DeLeon, Travis (Chloe) Smither, Sierra Poland, Jerrad Poland, 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Harold Nester and granddaughter, Haylee Smither.

Visitation and family receiving hours will be Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, MO.  Memorial contributions can be made to The American Cancer Society.
