Gary D. Atkins, 79, Savannah, MO passed away Tuesday April 9, 2019 at Living Community in St. Joseph, MO.  He was born November 10, 1939 to Verl & Evelyn (Brunner) Atkins.  He married Patricia Karr on November 6, 1958 and she survives of the home.

Gary always greeted you with a smile and root beer candy.  Gary was a member of the Rosendale Christian Church. He was a member of the Lincoln Masonic Lodge #138 Fillmore, MO. He worked for Affiliated Foods for 42 years and retired in 1998. Gary's greatest joy was all his family and friends and the times he spent with them.

Gary is survived by 3 children, Tammy (Carey) Williams; Bart (Alma) Atkins of Savannah; Brenda Atkins (Jennifer Weatherford) St. Joseph; grandchildren, Cara (Jamie) Damgar, Eric (Angie) Wiley, great-grandchildren, Macey and Rylan Damgar, Ladedin, Camren, Alayna Wiley; two sisters Connie (Ronnie) Roberts and Teresa (Vernon) Wright of Savannah; Sister-in-law Cheryl Atkins, Ravenwood; numerous nieces and nephews.  Gary was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Phil and Larry (Evelyn) Atkins.

Memorial contributions can be made to Rosendale Christian Church, Rosendale, MO.

Celebration of Life will be 10:00am, Saturday April 13, 2019 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah. Visitation and family receiving hours will be 5:00pm-8:00pm, Friday, April 12, 2019 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah.  Burial will follow at Fillmore Cemetery, Fillmore, MO.
