Garvin Gale Porter, 86, Savannah, Mo passed away Monday, February 25, 2019 at Shady Lawn Nursing home in Savannah, MO. He was born November 1, 1936 in Pickering, MO to Vilas and Estella (Lawson) Porter. He married Beverly Ann Fannon on November 9, 1952
Garvin was the owner of Porter Construction for 40 years. He enjoyed socializing with friends, member of the Savannah Masonic Lodge No. 71, Sertoma Club, Rural Fire Dept., Jaycee's, served 3 terms on Savannah School Board. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He was Christian.
Garvin is survived by his one son, Garvin Porter Jr. of Savannah, MO; six daughters, Cathy (Steve) Keller of St. Joseph, Carla (Randy) Howard of Rosendale, Cindy (Roger) Bowlin, Connie (Eugene) Wall, Christy (Robert) Molsbee, and Cherry (Scott) Bye all of Savannah; one sister, Vonita (Dave) Hanna of St. Joseph; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Garvin was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Coleen Hale.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 1, 2019 at 1:00pm at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah, MO. Visitation and family receiving hours will be from 5:00pm-7:00pm Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah, MO. Burial will follow the service at Nodaway Memorial Gardens in Maryville, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Freudenthal Hospice.
