Obituary

October 18, 1926 - January 10, 2015
Faye (Seybolt) Barnes passed away January 10, 2015 in St. Joseph, MO. She was born in Webster Groves, MO, on October 18, 1926, to Rollin and Gertrude (Schenck) Seybolt.
Faye graduated from Ritenour High School in 1944. After her high school graduation, Faye worked as a key punch operator in downtown St. Louis. She was well-liked among her peers and enjoyed bowling with girlfriends after work. On January 31, 1948, she married Gale Barnes at Overland Christian Church in Overland, MO. Her husband's career led them to live in several Missouri towns (including Clinton, Fulton, and Potosi) until 1971 when they relocated to Evergreen, Colorado.
Faye and Gale made their home in Colorado for many years and enjoyed their lives there. A consulting career for Gale took them abroad in 1977 where they lived in Tehran, Iran. Despite a challenging political environment in Iran, Faye enjoyed living abroad and was able to travel throughout the Mediterranean. One highlight of her travels included a pilgrimage to Jerusalem.
Once home from Iran, Faye and her husband enjoyed an active life surrounded by friends and their church congregation. In 2000, they moved back to Missouri and built a home in Oakmont Estates near St. Joseph.
Faye was the model of a devoted wife and held her husband, Gale, very dear. She treasured her role as a mother and homemaker and excelled at both.
Faye is survived by her children Joan (Barnes) Silvers and husband (Bob), County Club Village, MO; Lynn Barnes and wife (Joy), Denver, CO; and four grandchildren, Diana (Silvers) Reiter and husband (Mark); Matthew Silvers and wife (Rona); Gabriel Silvers; and Christopher Barnes; and six great-grandchildren.
Faye was preceded in death by her grandson, Jack Barnes, and her sister Betty (Seybolt) LeMaster.
Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, January 13 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, MO. Public visitation and family receiving hour will be from 9 - 10 am preceding the service on Tuesday, January 13 at the Funeral Home.
