Ethel Marie (Dreher) Hurst, 92, Savannah, MO passed from this life on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at North Care Hospice House, North Kansas City, MO. She was born September 18, 1922, to Sol and Ethel (McCombs) Dreher near Graham, MO and in 1927 moved to Andrew County. Marie attended school at Hickory Point Country School, Fillmore, Maryville, and graduated from Rosendale High School in 1940. She married Melvin Louis Hurst of Oregon, MO, on September 25, 1940, in St. Joseph, MO, then purchased a farm near Rosendale, MO. In 1994 they retired and moved to Savannah. Marie was a member of the Rosendale Christian Church, CWF, Rosendale Garden Club, Mt. Oak Club, and two square dance clubs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, a son Leroy, her parents, brother Earl Dreher, infant brother Wayne; sisters, Mary Alexander, Vada Goff, Dorothy Ogier; and an infant great grandson Alexander Louis Nelson. Survivors include her daughters, Sharon (Ted) Nelson, Beersheba Springs, TN; Rita (Bob) DeMoss, Kansas City, MO; brother, Dale (Bonnie) Dreher, Savannah, MO; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life will be 10:00 AM Monday, September 29, 2014 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, Missouri. Interment will be in Fillmore Cemetery. Public visitation and family receiving hours will be from 1 to 3 PM Sunday September 28 at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Rosendale Christian Church or NorthCare Hospice and Palliative Care.
