Drexel A. (Rex) Campbell, 85, of Savannah, Missouri, passed away at Living Community in St. Joseph Tuesday, May 30, 2017. He was born July 16, 1931 in Flag Springs, MO to Fay & Mabel (Lough) Campbell. He married Bonnie June Bennett in 1951 and she preceded him in death August 9, 2014.
He graduated from Savannah High School in 1949. He served in the United States Army from 1952-1954. He started his career at Crouch Brothers in 1955 retiring from McLean Truck Lines after 32 years of service. A member of the Executive Board of Trustees Teamsters Local 460 for many years as well as a union steward. He was a beloved member First Baptist Church in Savannah.
He is survived by his children, Curtis Campbell, Kansas City, MO; Craig (Amy) Campbell, Platte City, MO; and Karen (Kirby) Strong, Country Club, MO. Grandchildren include Cory and Alex Campbell; Kyle and Konor Strong. Great grandson Tripp Criswell, Keller, TX. He was preceded in death by wife, Bonnie, parents Fay and Mabel Campbell and brother Dale Campbell
Memorial Celebration of Life will be 7:00 PM Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Savannah First Baptist Church in Savannah, MO. Public visitation and family receiving hours will be 6 to 7pm Tuesday at the church. Breit - Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah is in charge of local arrangements.
