Dorothy M. Craig Prater

Dorothy Prater 92, passed away at her beloved home of LaVerna Village, Savannah, MO. Dorothy was born October 14, 1923 to June and Olah Craig. She graduated as salutatorian of her class of 1941 from Fillmore, MO. She was a member of Antioch Christian Church and Fillmore Auxiliary.
On May 8th, 1943 she married George (Jim) Prater. They farmed together for 51 years at Bolckow, MO. Jim and Dorothy together started the Prater Family Music Show. After Jim's death Dorothy continued her love of music by going to lots of local dances and dancing the night away.
Her last few years were spent at LaVerna Village that she dearly loved. She felt at home from day one and loved everyone there. Dorothy was known as the puzzle Queen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jim, her sister-in-law Hilda Craig, Avis Powell, Lois Grey, brother in laws Harlan Prater, John Prater, and JD Prater and Drexel Grey.
Survivors include children, Craig (Rob) Prater, San Diego, CA, Alan Prater, Bolckow, MO, Ramona (Jerry) Spoonemore, Fillmore, MO, Brother Raymond Craig, Des Moines, IA. Brother in law Richard Prater, sister in laws, Mary Prater, Jenny (Weldon) Grace, Arlene Prater, and Charlotte Prater. She leaves behind 5 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 7 great grandsons, 8 step great grandkids and 4 step great great grandkids and nieces and nephews and a host of music friends.
The Family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah, MO. Services will be Thursday morning 10am at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home. Memorials are requested for the Christmas fund at LaVerna Village Savannah the Savannah Senior Center or Mosaic Hospice Care Givers.
